Ms. Harumi Takahashi is the Governor of Hokkaido. After joining what was known as MITI in 1976, she was appointed the Director-General of Hokkaido Bureau of Economy Trade and Industry. In April 2003, she was elected as Governor of Hokkaido and is currently serving her fourth term.
Governor Takahashi has two children and knows well the challenges of being a working mother. She actually gave birth to her second child in Paris while posted to France for work. She is a strong advocate for working families.
高橋はるみ北海道知事は、富山市生まれ。1976年に旧通商産業省に入省後、経済産業省北海道経済産業局長などを経て2003年4月、自民党などの推薦を受けて初当選し、現在4期目を務める。
北海道出身のご主人とは職場で知り合い、仕事と育児と奮闘された２児の母。仕事の関係でパリに在任中に次男の出産。このような経験があったからこそ、働く女性や子育て支援に積極的に取り組んでおられます。
