Yuka Takemoto has been working at Kaneta Hospital in Hachinohe for 10 years. Yuka is a mum of two children. She works full-time thanks to great support from her family.
What do you think Japanese companies and/or government needs to do to help women in Japan?
I hope the government expands childcare options as that will provide a better working environment for working mothers. In my own case, I wasn’t able to enrol my first child in the preferred childcare facility after I returned to work from maternity leave.
What advice do you have for the next generation of women in Japan?
Always have someone you can ask for advice, someone you can lean on in times of unease. It’s important not to dwell on things by yourself.

働く母のために保育所の拡大、受け入れる体制を整えて欲しい。私自身第１子出産後、仕事復帰の際、希望する保育園へ入所させることが出来なかったので。
次世代の若い女性たちへ何かアドバイスはありますか？
不安の生活の中で相談できる人、甘えれる人を見つけてください。一人でため込まないで。
